Philosophy
At the core of San Patricio Language Institute is a natural language approach to communication, cultural connections, and joy in language learning. As believers in bilingualism and biculturalism, we also believe that the acquisition of a new language enriches, expands, and favorably changes one’s life forever.
At San Patricio, we strive to broaden our students’ opportunities and choices while embracing diversity in the 21st century. As an institution of language education, our graduating students will be able to speak both Spanish and English, two of the top languages which, combined, amount to over 800 million native speakers throughout the world.
The natural language approach, developed by Tracy Terrell and Stephen Krashen in the late 1970s and early 1980s, aims to create a stress-free environment with emphasis on communication in the new language one wants to learn from the outset. At San Patricio we do not speak Spanish when we are teaching English nor English when teaching Spanish.
